Medical English
This course is for students who are interested in studying a medical or healthcare-related degree ( medicine, dentistry, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy or nursing). The course may also be of interest to qualified professionals who would like to gain extra practice using English for work purposes before they begin their job in a clinical setting. The course is practical and involves exposure and practice for the real working day/ night of a healthcare professional. The course aims to teach a good amount of general medical vocabulary as well as medical terminology, where relevant. We use formal purpose coursebooks as well as video material and actual authentic materials that are designed for practitioners as well as authentic materials that aim to reach the patient population. Students will learn phraseology, vocabulary and terminology and will benefit from building confidence using English to communicate in clinical settings with colleagues, patients and patient families. Students will improve their communicative confidence.
